We say..., "anxiety" is a normal healthy function that allows one to stay focussed and alert to the task at hand. The recognition that things don't always work out the way you planned them, doesn't necessarily mean that you didn't succeed. Do we have to control every step in the process? What does giving up control look like at this time of year?
Identify the stakeholders... Trust the process... Trust the people...

Giving up control in every setting can be difficult. My anxiety is always over the top every year when school starts (I told my grade 8's a lovely yet embrassing story that ends with me once throwing up on the first day - they laughed, and I think/hope it put them at ease).
My anxiety always disappears when I put my trust in the students. Once the dialogue begins, everything seems to fall into place. Looking forward to more conversations with them tomorrow!
