Summer is here; our students have gone home, our teachers
have left the building and the halls are eerily quiet. It’s now time to take stock of our efforts, plan for next year and thank everyone for all that they do.
As we take stock of our year, it is clearly evident that it has been a success. Even though in many ways it has been a very trying year having to navigate the many aspects of job
action, we all intersected by having a vested interest in student success. So in spite of the politics, our school still managed to serve our community well. Our yearbook is a
shining example that serves as testimony to our success. Learning, connectivity, and growth are clearly
evident for both students and staff.
As
your Principal, I want to thank our student body, our parent community and our dedicated, caring and committed staff. It’s been an honour serving as
your principal. With great anticipation
I look forward to next year to continue our work in meeting the needs of our students.
As we conclude this year, I also want to take a moment to
thank the tireless efforts of our school Vice Principals. Your job is multi-faceted and you're always on the go. With a
smile on your face, you cater to the many needs of our students, parents and staff.
When you took on this job, there was no manual on how to do it. So, armed with your
instincts and character skill sets, you take on the daily task of managing the tyranny
of the urgent, responding to the incessant flood of questions and concerns and at
the same time, provide outstanding leadership.
You walk the halls modeling respect and setting tone. You manage student discipline and parent
conference meetings, look after inventory and ordering, work on school
improvement, organize lunch supervision, and serve as exam coordinators. You coordinate
health and safety and make sure we are all safe.
You coordinate grad and commencement, ensure every child has their photo
taken and plan all parent information sessions.
You make sure report cards are done on time, attend school-based team
and produce a staff handbook. You work
to ensure our EA’s are well organized; our TOC’s have a place to go and our
student teachers engage. You ensure our learning resources are ordered and our web
site reads well. You coordinate articulation with our family of schools and you
make sure that we have a master schedule that meets the needs of all our
students. You are tireless instructional
leaders and you are always there when we need you.
You do all this
and more with a smile on your face and a warmth in your heart. At the end of the
day, exhausted and tired, you go home battered and bruised but you always come
back with a spring in your step and an infectious energy to take on a new day. You
are respected by students and staff and serve our community well. For this and
everything else that you do, I thank you.
Have a great
summer everyone – See you in September.
